Scratchboard Illustrations (Student Work)
Illustration I Project: Working with scratchboard is a great way to understand the importance of highlights and lighter values within an illustration. The process forces the artist to think in reverse in order to pull the image from the surface. Using proper scratchboard mediums, tools, and techniques, illustrate an 11” x 14” scratchboard artwork. The illustration must remain black and white for the design, demonstrate a range of detailed tonal values, and exhibit advanced illustration techniques.
